Edwards of Manchester suddenly closed last week after selling shoes in the city centre for almost 200 years. The Barton Arcade shop had been supplying made to measure shoes to clients since 1830 before it went into liquidation. HJS's managing director Gordon Johnston, the Senior Insolvency Practitioner dealing with Edwards' liquidation, said: "The business recovery specialists at HJS Recovery have been called in to assess the viability of Edwards.
